What is CSD500?

CSD500 is the codename for a condom developed by Futura Medical PLC. It was announced in around 2004-2007

CSD500 is a condom developed for use by healthy men. The product incorporates a unique erectogenic gel (known as “Zanifil® gel”) to help men maintain a firmer erection during intercourse whilst wearing a condom.Futura Medical PLC

During the first announcement, the world was surprised. CNN1CNN, 15 surprises ahead in 2007 In this article, Business 2.0’s Chris Taylor highlighted some innovations in 2006 and CSD500 was one of them. praised it as a Business 2.0 in 2007.

Blue Diamond Condom by Futura Medical

CSD500 is marketed as Blue Diamond Condom. The active ingredients for enhancing erection is Zanifil Gel (an erectrogenic gel). In a news report2UPI, ‘Viagra condom’ poised for EU approval dated May/10/2011, the condom would be classified as Class III medical device.

CSD500 obtained the CE Mark (CE 595510) in October 20133Analysis and forecast report for Futura Medical by Hardman & Co, published in 11/Sep/2014., which allows CD500 to be sold in 29 European territories plus some additional non-EU territories.

Where can I buy CSD500 Condom (or Blue Diamond Condom)?

Updated on 22/Aug/2018, the official website of Blue Diamond Condom is open to public but you need to have a bank account & delivery address in Netherlands or Belgium to buy.

It is not for sell at the popular condom stores including CondomMania or Undercover Condoms. You can’t find it on Amazon either.

Instead of selling as Blue Diamond Condom, Futura Medical also make profit by licensing the product to other companies and distribute to local territories. Originally, the company made partnership agreements with Durex & Reckitt Benckiser but it was terminated in August, 2013.

Checking press release page on Futura Medial PLC Corporate website, there are quite a number of agreement changes over the past few years. I have gathered the recent changes in the table below (Earlier announcements cannot be found).

DIY: safe, erection helping condom which works similar to Zanifil (CSD500) Viagra Condom

If you read the table and the country list carefully, you can find that CSD500, Zanifil, or Blue Diamond condom is not available in the US & UK market.

I can’t find CSD500 at local stores too so I decided to make my own version. It is not just a traditional benzocaine condom as I want effects similar to Viagra – enhancing my erection.

I found that there are herbal sexual enhancement oil that is water-based. The manufacturer claims that it helps boosting my erection so I decided to give a try. It is actually very simple. You just need two items to make your viagra condom.

  • A Condom
  • VigRX Oil
    • It is a topical gel which improves your erection very quickly.
    • You can get it at VigRX official website.
    • It comes with 67 days money back guarantee.

Once you have them ready, use it right before sex:

  1. Rub your penis with VigRX Oil.
  2. Wait for 40 seconds (Or you can re-organize your procedure, e.g. rub it first, then put off your clothes)
  3. Wear the condom
  4. Rock on! The active ingredients of the VigRX Oil will be absorbed by the penile tissue for a viagra-like effect.

According to the manufacturer, there are no reported side effects on using VigRX Oil. The oil itself is colorless and tasteless so it is Okay for oral sex.

I heard about MED2002 and MED2005. Are they better?

After launching the CSD500 condom, Futura Medical also announced MED2002.

MED2002 is the codename; Eroxon Gel is the brand name. It is similar to the CSD500 (Codename) – Blue Diamond Condom (Market product) correlation.

MED2002 is a topical gel with active chemical compound Glyceryl Trinitrate (“GTN”). In deed, the active ingredient in CSD500 condom is also Glyceryl Trinitrate

CSD500 is a condom developed for use by healthy men. The product incorporates a unique erectogenic gel (known as “Zanifil® gel”) to help men maintain a firmer erection during intercourse whilst wearing a condom. Zanifil® gel contains a low dose of Glyceryl Trinitrate located in the teat of a standard latex condom which is absorbed through the penis when the condom is used.Futura Medical CSD500 Product Page

So, they are using the same innovation on different products. It seems that CSD500 has been finalized but MED2002 is still evolving.

What is MED2005

According to a MED2005 research by Futura Medical,

MED2002 contains the active pharmaceutical ingredient, glyceryl trinitrate (GTN). In the development history there are references to iterations including MED2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 which are all proprietary formulations of GTN. The final ‘locked’ formulation for use in ongoing clinical trials is MED2005, the codename used for MED2002 in the recent published scientific literature.Publication of Positive MED2002 Clinical Data, Futura Medical

MED2005 is the improved formula of MED2002. While the Futura Medical website still mention MED2002, the actual chemical compound is MED2005.

In layman’s terms, MED2005 (Topical Gel, Eroxon) is the latest version of MED2002, and Eroxon Gel is more or less similar to Zanifil (CSD500 Active ingredient)

The Revolutionary Condom: CSD500 Zanifil Condom with Viagra-like effect

Futura Medical and Durex PartnershipBack to late 2007, an U.K. company Futura Medical announced its research with Durex for a revolutionary product: “Viagra for condoms”. It is codenamed as CSD500. The magic is done by a patented “erectogenic compound” called Zanifil.

This compound, exists in gel form, will be attached in the inner tube of the condom made by Durex. With the pharmacological dose of Zanifil, men can maintain a firmer and stronger erection during intercourse.

Reported by the CNN Money, it is one of the “business 2.0” surprises in 20074CNN.

Durex CSD500 Condom with erection gelSo it has been 3 years since the first media appearance.

Until recently, another batch of news are being released.

The press release of Futura Medical states that CSD500 has already been classified as Class III medical device with an ancillary medicinal substance (simply, with the CE mark) under the regulations of the EU authorities5Reported by StockMarketWire.com and Reuters on, 20 June 2011..

It is also licensed in the UK, EU, USA and the rest of the world

This means that the CSD500 may be sold over-the-counter as conventional condoms by the end of this year (in the European region).

2015-04-02 Update: Futura Medical is still trying to bring the erection-enhancing condom to the market.

2014-10-09 Update: Futura Medical has released the CSD500 Zanifil condom. It is branded as “Blue Diamond – Condoms for Maximum Hardness”. However, it is only available to residents of Belgium and Netherlands.

Update: According to CBS, in order for CSD500 to reach the US market, Durex and Futura Medical have to prove that CSD500 is “safe and effective compared to Viagra pills”. That means there is no timetable for an American release at the moment.

2014-08-08 Update: Futura Medical announced that the award of the CE mark certificate to Reckitt Benckiser plc for CSD500. This means that CSD500 can be marketed now. Reckitt Benckiser, the holding company of the Durex brand, is going to work with Futura to commercialise CSD500.

2014-06-20 Update: Reuters report that the erection-enhancing condom by Futura Medical has been recommended for European approval. This means that CSD500 fulfills all the regulations and will get the CE mark on approval (takes about a month). The CE mark certificate will allow CSD500 to be sold within 29 European countries and regions/countries that recognise the CE mark.

2014-04-02 Update: Futura Medical agreed to work with Ewing-based Church & Dwight Co. to bring an erection-enhancing condom to market. In August, talks with Durex condom-maker Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc collapsed.
